About Father Ray

The Rev’d Fr. Raymond F. Kasch, Rector
St. Patrick’s Anglican Church
PO Box 941
Smyrna, Tennessee 37167

Ray grew up in a Navy family that moved every two years, making the question, “Where are you from?” difficult to answer. He is a graduate of Florida State University and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He served as pastor of a non-denominational church before returning to the church of his youth. He completed studies for Anglican Studies and a Master of Sacred Theology at the School of Theology in Sewanee. He was ordained to the diaconate and priesthood at St. Paul’s in Chattanooga.

In 1996 Bishop Herlong of Tennessee called Ray to plant a mission which developed through a bible study, home meetings and personal evangelism. All Saint’s became a self supporting parish in January 2002 and witnessed 104 baptisms and 156 confirmations/receptions in the first 9 years.

On All Saints’ Day 2006 the parish voted 86% to leave TEC, renaming the parish St. Patrick’s Anglican Church. St. Patrick’s is a member of the Anglican Diocese of the South. They also oversee a parochial mission, a Karen Anglican Church, comprised of about 100 Burmese Refugees.

Ray is married to Beth Kasch, who has worked for over 20 years for Tennessee Department Children’s Services. Son, Andrew is in the film business in Hollywood, CA and daughter Katie operates a Community Supported Agriculture farm in Georgia. Ray’s passion for preaching, teaching and administering the sacraments is so that Jesus Christ will be “known, worshipped and obeyed to the ends of the earth” (BCP. p.215).
